BOYS LIKE GIRLS LIVE!! | RITZ MUSIC VENUE

Boys Like Girls performed at the Ritz Music Venue to a packed house in what I would say was one of the great shows of the year.  If you are not familiar with Boy’s Like Girls, they are a pop punk band that formed in Boston Mass in 2005.  There self-titled debut album sold over 700,000 copies which is an incredible foot for a debut album.  The band had some big hists including, “The Great Escape”, “Two is better than one”, “Love Drunk” and many others.   Though it was rumored that the band broke up around 2011 front man Martin Johnson stated in an interview that “We’ve been on a sort of break for so long, sort of an unannounced hiatus without ever breaking up”.   Though fans were saddened by their hiatus it was great to hear that they were coming back and released their newest album called “Sunday at Foxwoods” which came out October of 2023 and on top of that were going on tour!

Now let’s get to the show!

Before Boy’s Like Girls came out, they had a great line up in support of this tour.  That line up included, State Champs, LoLo and the summer Set!  It was a great line up and everyone was excited to see them.  Each band in support of Boy’s Like Girls played incredibly well and raised the energy of the venue to a high point.  As we waited patiently for Boy’s Like Girls to come to the stage, we started hearing fans chanting “boys like girls, boys like girls” over and over again.  As the chanting continued the lights suddenly went dim and the venue exploded with fans screaming in excitement.  Each band member walked out saying hello to the crowd and then started into one of their biggest songs “Love Drunk”.  When they played the first chord of that song everyone in the venue went wild.  The band played several songs from their catalog including new songs from their newest album.  The show was full of energy and red, blue and green lights were exploring the entire venue casting this rainbow of color everywhere.  The band had these huge boxes that looked like guitar amps, but they had these screen/lighting effects attached to the front of them.  I am not sure if they were actual guitar amps just modified or just light boxes made to look like guitar amps, either way it was cool looking!

The band sounded great, and they put on a fun show.  Everyone was happy to see them performing live again and we can’t wait to see what they do in the future.  A fun show you don’t want to miss.
